Vulpix is the very first fox pokemon to appear and makes its debut in Pokemon Red/Blue (or Red/Green in Japan) for the Gameboy. It is a very small and cute pokemon, with six tails and a red-brown pelt. At birth, Vulpix has only one white tail, which then splits and turns more beautiful as it grows older. It has a flame inside its body that never goes out and it can manipulate fire with incredible precision. Because of this, it's better not to underestimate this pokemon, despite its adorable appearance. If exposed to a Fire Stone, it will evolve in to Ninetails.

Trivia
In the beta version of Pokemon Red/Blue, Vulpix was originally going to be called "foxfire".
Vulpix can be considered Growlithe's parallel: both pokemon are fire-type and evolve using a Fire Stone; they are usually put in opposite games.
